HOW TO : Avoid Pimples / Skincare #1

Hello Ladies

I know how hard it is to suffer from Acne. For sure all of us experienced a breakout or an unexpected acne blemish at least once in our life. So today, I'll be sharing a few tips on how to avoid them ('cause I know how irritating pimples can be).

Tip 1 :  Always, as in always keep your face clean.

One main cause of acne is dirt and bacteria. So you better clean your face twice a day to remove impurities, dead skin cells and any excess oil on the surface of your skin. Use warm water and a mild facial cleanser. Avoid scrubbing your face with a rough towel or loofah, they will only irritate your skin. Remember: washing your face too often can dry out your skin so only wash your face twice daily, preferably morning and night.

Tip 2 : Moisturize

Whether you have an oily or acne prone skin always moisturize your face after washing. Choose an oil-free, water-based or lightweight moisturizer if you have an oily skin. This will hydrate your skin without making your face look oily and greasy. In my case, I have an oily skin but I never, ever skip moisturizer. Works perfectly fine for me! but if you have a dry skin then choose a cream-based moisturizer.

Tip 3 : Exfoliate once or twice a week.

Always be careful on exfoliating your face. Exfoliating means gently wiping off the outer layer of the skin (called the 'Epidermis') in order to help slough off dead skin and unclog pores, but on the other hand it can dry out and irritate the skin if used too often.

Tip 4 : Never go to sleep with makeup on

Make it a habit to remove your makeup first before going to bed. Try reading this article -> click here :)

Tip 5 : As much as possible, avoid touching your face with your hands

Touching your face is a big no-no. Can you imagine what kind of nasty germs are lurking in the corners? We use our hands to touch so many things without knowing how dirty they are and touching your face will only cause the bacteria to spread. In addition to spreading bacteria and risking infection, touching pimples can cause them to become irritated, thus making it worse and prolonging healing time so make sure that your hands are clean before touching your face.

Tip 6 : Be sure to get enough sleep.

Studies have shown that not getting enough sleep can increase the amount of stress a person goes through. And you know that Stress = Acne, right? Try to get an 8-10 hours of sleep a day if you're 18 and below.

Tip 7 : Healthy Diet

You can avoid pimples by following a healthy diet. Exercise can be a great help too. Reduce eating dairy-products and eat more vegetables. Drink lots of water, 'cause not only it will keep you hydrated but it will flush out toxins from your body. You don't need to deprive yourself, just try to limit your intake. Your body would surely thank you for that.

Tip 8 : Choose an acne-friendly products

Make sure that the products that you are applying on your face are safe to use and already been tested by dermatologists. Look for products that say "Non-comedogenic" it means that it will not clog your pores nor cause you pimples. Choose products that will allow your skin to breathe therefore reduce the chances of skin infections, irritation and acne.

St. Ives Bright Skin Apricot Scrub Review

Hello Ladies

Tonight, I'll be writing a review about St. Ives Bright Skin Apricot Scrub. A year ago, I discovered this facial scrub while looking for something to add to my skin goodies. Unlike other facial scrubs, only St. Ives made a big difference to my skin.

'Apricot scrub gently removes dull, dead skin cells to reveal brighter, more even skin tone.' sounds promising, eh?
